Marko lives in Berlin with his wife and daughter - far enough away from his parents Gitte and Guenther. In a family gathering, Gitte, who has been mentally unstable since Marko's childhood, announces that she stops taking medication. Guenther feels her decision is threatening his retirement plan of taking along study trip. Marko's younger brother Jakob objects to the idea, expressing frustration at his elder brother for being away. Marko is the only one supporting his mother.
